What is Humans of Web3?

Humans of Web3 (HoW3) is a series that explores the human layer of crypto. It exists to tell the inspiring stories of the people building web3.

Anonymity is a foundational part of crypto, but to inspire the next wave of web3 talent we need to show the real faces behind the DAOs and the PFPs. These people are not only smart and visionary, but also open, kind and supportive. Let’s tell the world about them.

Who’s behind HoW3?

Humans of Web3 started in September 2021 at Launch House in Los Angeles, where +20 web3 builders, creators and contributors lived together for a month.

Inspired by the creative energy of the house, Filipe Macedo started interviewing every resident and sharing their personal stories and portraits on Instagram and Twitter.

This is became our Season 1: to interview and photograph 100 humans of web3.

How does it work?

HoW3 has one rule: the interview needs to happens IRL. Feeling the person’s energy and their human vibes is key to tell a great story.

What happens after being selected?

  1. We schedule a IRL chat (30 to 60 min) to go deep on your story, from birth until web3. There’s no pre-made script and we only record the conversation to avoid taking notes during our time together.
  2. We take a portrait of you after the conversation (and a quick video for an Insta story). If you wish to remain pseudonymous, we can do a photograph of a special personal object of yours, instead of the portrait.
  3. We’ll publish your story and portrait on Instagram and a Twitter thread. You can check the next humans in the queue to be published here:
